According to Rebecca
Morris (who rode the system for 67+ hours and wrote about in
1974), the name of the frugal Flushing teen who was immortalized
on the back of the subway maps circa 1960 was Jerome Moses. 1
Though made famous
on the back of the subway maps, Moses' ride was not the first
recorded bid to travel the whole subway. That honor goes to
Herman Rinke.
